Live Activities




Overview
The Live Activities page of the inSync Management Console provides a consolidated view of the backup and restore activities currently in progress for both user devices and cloud applications. From the Live Activities page, you can:
- Search for user-specific activities
- Cancel a live activity
- Pause and resume the auto-refresh of live activities status
- Apply filters to view specific activities
The status of live activities is refreshed every 5 minutes. inSync cancels restore requests older than 30 days and removes them from the Live Activities page. Information about such auto-canceled requests is available in Restore Activity report.
Access Path
To view the live activities
- On the inSync Management Console menu bar, click

The list of backup and restore activities that are in progress appear on the Live Activities page.
Search Activities for a User
You can search for live activity for particular users in inSync by typing their user name or email address in the Search box located at the top-right corner of the Live Activities page.
View Live Activities
The following table lists the fields on the Live Activities page.
Field | Description |

Name | The name of the user or site collection for which the activity is in progress. |
The email address of the user. | |
Data Source |
The name of the device or Cloud app on which the activity is in-progress. |
Type | Type of activity. For example, Backup or Restore activity. |
Profile | The name of the profile associated with the user for which the activity is in progress. This column does not display any value for activities related to site collections. |
CloudCache |
Name of the CloudCache Server, if the activity is under progress via a CloudCache Server.

Types of backup
The table lists the different types of backup that are supported in inSync.
Type of backup | Description |
---|---|
Self or user-triggered backup | Backup of files and folders initiated by the users on their device. |
Administrator triggered backup | Backup of files and folders for a user initiated by an inSync administrator using the inSync Management Console. |
Cloud Apps Backup | Backup of files and folders initiated by the users or inSync administrators for the Cloud Apps accounts. |
Types of restore
The table lists the different types of restore that are supported in inSync.
Type of Restore | Description |
---|---|
Self Restore | Restore of files and folders initiated by the users on their device. |
Admin Restore | Download of user files and folders initiated by an administrator on their console. |
Remote Restore | Restore of files and folders initiated by an administrator on the user's device. |
Web Restore | Restore of files and folders initiated by the users on their device using the inSync Web. |
Mobile Restore | Restore of files and folders initiated by the users using the inSync mobile app. |
Cloud Apps Restore |
Restore of files and folders initiated by the users using Cloud Apps. |
Apply live activity filters
The default view of the Live Activities page displays all the activities currently in progress. Live activity filters can be used to generate a view of a specific activity, data source, and profile. For example, the filters can display a list only of backups performed from a specific data source assigned with a specific profile.
To apply the live activity filters, select the values from below lists individually or in combination to generate the required view:
- All Activities
- All Data Sources
- All Profiles
Cancel live activities
To cancel any of the live activities:
- On the inSync Management Console menu bar, click
.
- Select the backup or restore activities that you want to cancel.
- Click Cancel.
Pause auto-refresh of live activities
inSync updates the information that appears on the Live Activities page every 15 seconds. You can pause the live activities list to avoid these updates.
Note: When you pause the auto-refresh of live activities, backups or restores are not affected.
To pause the auto-refresh of the live activities list
- On the inSync Management Console menu bar, click
.
- Click Pause Auto Refresh.
Resume auto-refresh of live activities
To resume the auto-refresh of the live activities list
- On the inSync Management Console menu bar, click
.
- Click Resume Auto Refresh.
