inSync support for Salesforce

Native data protection within Salesforce is manual, time-consuming and error-prone. And if a customer has to rely on Salesforce to restore data, it’s expensive - $10,000 per instance! With inSync, the entire process is automated and simplified, with cloud-to-cloud backup and instant recovery. Druva will now provide:

  • Time-indexed backup of standard and custom Salesforce objects and metadata
  • Instant restore based on the comparison of two point-in-time snapshots
  • Download/export of single and bulk objects, as well as metadata
  • Configurable storage regions per site
  • Unlimited retention
  • Admin audit trails, reporting, and alerts

For more information, see How to integrate with Salesforce?

45797 On the Live Activities page, when an administrator searched for the ongoing activities for a user and then selected the activities and performed an action, all the activities for other users also got selected, and the same action was performed on them.

inSync Cloud Update on May 26, 2018

The following enhancements and fixed issue are available with this Cloud update.

Enhancements

The following enhancements are available:

Password workflow change

For enhanced security of storing and transmitting user passwords based on industry best practices, inSync now mandates users and administrators to set their password during account activation. As a result of this change, inSync Cloud users and administrators will no longer receive passwords in plain text format in their account invitation email. The account invitation email will now provide a link to set the password during account activation or password reset.

Example 1

An administrator will receive the following email on successful activation of the inSync trial period.

Example 2

An inSync Client user will receive the following email upon requesting a password reset.

password_reset.png

OneDrive native restore

The inSync administrators and the inSync end users can now restore the backed up OneDrive data directly into the OneDrive account. The details are as follows:

  • An inSync administrator can restore a OneDrive user's data by overwriting the data in the existing location or as a copy in a different location in the user’s OneDrive account. An inSync administrator can also restore the data of a OneDrive user into the account of another OneDrive user as a copy, and choose to retain or discard the sharing settings for the restored data. For more information, see How to restore Office 365 data?
  • An inSync end user can search and restore their OneDrive data in the same location by overwriting the existing data or restore the data as a copy in a different location of their OneDrive account. For more information, see Restore data using the inSync Web.

Fixed issue

Issue Description
47076 The inSync administrators were unable to see the list of all the AD/LDAP mappings due to a pagination issue on the AD/LDAP Mappings page when the number of records increased beyond 100.

inSync Cloud Update on Apr 28, 2018

The following new features are available with this Cloud update.

Enhancements

Improved inSync Client upgrade process

The new inSync Client Upgrade capabilities considerably reduce the administrator’s efforts and time taken to upgrade the inSync Client on multiple devices. The administrators can simply choose to keep the inSync Client up to date or manually upgrade their protected devices.

This allows the administrator the flexibility to upgrade selected or all devices to the latest General Availability (GA) or to the previous General Availability (GA) release version, or Early Access (EA) or Hotfix version available.

The methods to upgrade the inSync Client are:

On the inSync Management Console, navigate to the Client Upgrade page by clicking Manage > Deployments > Client Upgrade to enable an autoupgrade or perform a bulk upgrade or navigate to the Manage Devices page by clicking Data Sources > Devices to perform a manual upgrade.

For more information, see Upgrade the inSync Client on the user's device.

General Availability (GA) of Auto delete inactive devices option

The option to auto delete inactive devices is now GA and available to all customers.

inSync provides administrators the option to manage inactive devices through the inSync Management Console to:

  • Define the period after which inSync will mark a device as inactive.
  • Select the option to automatically delete inactive devices. For more information, see Configure auto-delete of inactive devices in a profile.
  • Specify the number of days after which inSync will delete the inactive devices.
  • View a consolidated report of inactive devices and their respective deletion date. See Inactive Devices Report section for more information.

inSync Cloud Update on Mar 31, 2018

The following new features are available with this Cloud update.

Enhancements

Updates to SharePoint Online

  • Auto-discovery of Site Collections
inSync now provides the option to automatically discover new site collections added to the SharePoint Online setup of an organization. • Support for Team Sites
inSync now supports backup and restore for Team Sites that are used by Office 365 Groups and Teams Web App within an Office 365 tenant. These sites are generally hidden from an IT administrator and as a result are missed out from the backup. The auto-discovery process ensures that these hidden sites are added to the SharePoint sites list in inSync. This support extends inSync's capability in protecting confidential and valuable business data present in Team Sites in SharePoint Online.
  • Global backup and data retention policies for Site Collections
Routine data backup for Sharepoint Online Site Collections is imperative for the business as crucial data is being saved during the collaboration between the employees of an organization. To protect this data, inSync now enables administrators to define global data backup and retention policies that apply to all Site Collections within Sharepoint Online. inSync administrators also have the option to define custom policies for a site collection.

inSync 5.9.5 CU7

The following updates are available with the Cloud Push on September 02, 2017.

End of Support

In line with our regular email communication since the past few months, Druva has ended support for SSLv3 and TLS 1.0.

Why is Druva making this change?

As you may be aware, SSLv3 and TLS 1.0 are now obsolete and known to have several security vulnerabilities. IETF, as well as several government agencies and global compliance regulations have mandated that SSLv3 and TLS 1.0 must not be used. In line with the best security practices, the latest inSync Clients use TLS 1.1 or higher for secure communication.

To always ensure confidentiality and integrity of customer data, Druva is ending support for SSLv3 and TLS 1.0 protocols.SSLv3 and TLS 1.0 protocols.

In addition, Druva is also taking this opportunity to upgrade the root certificates to one signed using a SHA-256 hash to ensure enhanced security. inSync Client, inSync Connector, and inSync CloudCache Server versions 5.8 and above have root certificates that use the SHA-256 hash.

What is the impact of this security enhancement?

  • inSync Clients lower than version 5.5 on Windows and Mac OS and inSync Clients lower than version 5.9 on Linux use SSLv3 and TLS 1.0 to communicate to the SSLv3 and TLS 1.0 to communicate to the inSync Cloud. These older inSync Client versions will no longer be able to connect to the inSync Cloud. It is mandatory to upgrade to the latest versions supported by Druva.
  • inSync Connector and inSync CloudCache Server versions lower than 5.8 will experience an outage if the newer trust store with a SHA-256 root certificate is not available. It is mandatory to upgrade to the latest versions supported by Druva.
  • inSync Mobile app for iOS, Android, and Windows also require a mandatory upgrade to the latest versions.

What action is required?

On Windows Devices:

  • Auto upgrade to inSync Client 5.9.5 from the inSync Management Console.
  • Or, manually upgrade to inSync Client 5.9.5.

On Mac devices:

Manually upgrade devices that are lower than 5.4.2 to inSync Client 5.9.5.

On Linux devices:

Manually upgrade devices that are on 5.8 or lower versions to inSync Client 5.9.

On iOS Devices:

Manually upgrade Druva inSync app to the latest version 4.4.2.

On Android devices:

  • Upgrade your Android OS version to 4.3 or later.
  • Manually upgrade Druva inSync app to the latest version 4.5.1.

The inSync Client upgrade is straightforward and has no negative effects for settings or the backup process. The entire upgrade process can be completed for each inSync Client in a few minutes.

Where can I access the upgrade matrix and supporting documentation?

You can access the upgrade matrix and other detailed information on the Druva Documentation Portal:
